Questions
What's a domain name?
Sometimes referred to as URLs, the domain name is the address of your web site. For example, www.mysite.com.
Can my domain name be anything I want?
"Amazon.com" and "eBay.com" are already taken. But zillions of names remain, and among those is most likely your name or business name. If the name you want isn't available, we'll help you find a logical and unique alternative.
How much does it cost to register a domain name?
For simplicity, we include domain registration in the price of your web site. An exception might be a domain name considered by registrars to be of high value (some sell for thousands of dollars). In those cases, we will quote you a registration price, which would be the same price you would pay if you registered it yourself.
I already registered a domain name. Now what?
Much depends on where it's registered and if it's already linked to hosting, but we will work with you to point your domain name to your new site designed by FinallyOn.
Can I have an email address specific to my site, like myname@mysite.com?
Yes! See our pricing page for more information. You will be able to check your email on the web or via an "email client" like Microsoft Outlook or Apple Mail.
What does "hosting" mean?
Your web site needs to reside on a server, which is a computer out there in the ether that stores your site and is accessed whenever someone navigates to it. The $8.95/month (or $89.95/year) covers the expense of arranging hosting for your page and maintaining registration of your site's domain name.
Why is there a choice between paying monthly or paying annually for hosting and email?
The annual price saves you money, but the monthly price offers the flexibility to cancel at any time. Sometimes people want a temporary site to publicize a specific and finite event. It's your option.
Can I register my own domain name and hire my own hosting service?
Yes. If you hire your own host, you may provide us with the domain name, user name and password and we'll upload your site to your server and, therefore, not charge the hosting fee. But we cannot be held responsible if you allow your hosting or domain registration to lapse. Which is why we strive to be all-inclusive, aspirin-free, one-stop-shopping.
Can I have pictures, sounds and animation on my site?
If you provide us with photographs, art, audio files or video files, we will incorporate them as desired (provided they're in good taste as defined by reasonable minds and the law of the land). You may also include YouTube videos and/or link to them. It is entirely your responsibility to confirm rights and permissions to such media, and if we suspect you don't have them we reserve the right not to include them.
Can I link to outside web sites?
Yes. As long as those sites are legal and within the boundaries of good taste.
What if I want to make changes to my site?
Here's how it works: While your site is under development we will park it on a site where only you can view it and inform us of the changes you'd like. Once you approve the final product, we will launch it (move it to your official domain name and "go live" or "go public"). Thereafter, changes are $24.95/hour with a one hour minimum. Most changes can be made in less than an hour. If you require an overhaul, we'll provide you with a quote.
If you need to make minor changes periodically, the most economical thing to do is save them up for one single request rather than pay $24.95 per change.
If you require regular updates (say, monthly) we can work with you to develop a deal.
Are there changes I can make myself?
Yes and no. If you create a Google Calendar, for example, we can incorporate the calendar into your site and any changes you make in Google will automatically update on your web site free of charge. If you create a Facebook page, we can incorporate your Facebook feed which will automatically update on your site.
Can I sell stuff on my site?
Most people have web sites because they're selling something. Either a skill, their art, or simply informing people of their brick-and-mortar store or restaurant location. The most efficient way to sell merchandise or services is to create a Paypal account. We can help with that if you need it and embed the code so visitors can purchase or donate directly from your site.
Can I blog on my site?
Not unless you want to pay $24.95/hour each time you update your blog. However, there are free blogging services out there you can link to from your site.
Will my web site show up on search engines like Google and Yahoo?
In time, yes. It won't happen immediately, and the degree to which your site comes up as a "hit" is dependent on many variables, including how long it is on the web.
Can I track how many people visit my site?
Yes. You can set up a free Google Analytics account (we can help you if need be). We will incorporate that account number into your site's code and Google will provide you with more traffic information than you can possibly imagine.
How do I pay?
We take Paypal and most major credit cards. A $50 deposit is all it takes to begin work ($100 deposit for larger sites), with the balance payable upon launch. We will email you an invoice with a link where you can enter your information.
What is your privacy policy?
We don't share your information with anyone, ever.
